Suggestions for students in summer
London is a great place to enjoy the summertime, especially when you’re a student and you have all the time in the world to soak it all in! London is a city that comes alive in the summer, there is so much going on, so much to do, and so much to enjoy. You’ll want to make sure you planned as much as possible to ensure you’ve really made the most of your time there.

Catch an outdoor movie
There are lots of companies who set up outdoor movie screenings during the summer in London. It’s an amazing way to spend the day and it’s something you won’t want to miss. There’s nothing quite like watching your favourite movie with the backdrop of London’s skyline in the distance. Some companies who put on outdoor screenings each summer are; Luna Cinema, Block Party Cinema, Rooftop Film Club, City Cruises (on a boat!) and Pop Up Screens. Most tickets book up fast, so if this is your kind of thing, make sure you look into tickets sooner rather than later.
Visit a rooftop bar and watch the sunset
London has plenty of beautiful rooftop bars to enjoy, and you’re spoilt for choice in the summertime when the weather means they’re all open. Enjoying drinks on a rooftop bar is a great way to hang out with friends, and it’s a lovely way to spend an evening catching up. Some of our favourites are; 12th Knot, Franks Cafe, Culpepper Roof Garden, Jin Bo Law, and The Aviary.
Enjoy a day in one of London’s many parks
London’s many parks are like a haven in the summertime, away from the bustling city. You’ll find gorgeous green spaces, waterfalls, amazing scenery and even an ice-cream van (or three!). London’s parks are free to visit, and the main ones you’ll probably want to enjoy in the summer are Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, Richmond Park and Green Park. These parks have great views, and are a lovely place to sunbathe for a few hours on a sunny day.
Find a great beer garden
London is famous for its many pubs, and with most pubs comes a beer garden out the back. Beer gardens feel very British, and on a Friday night in the summer, there’s nowhere better to be! Bonus points if you can find a beer garden with a BBQ or a pub quiz!
Visit Brighton for the day
Brighton is only a 50 minute train ride from the centre of London (Victoria Station) and it’s a direct train too – which means it’s an easy and cheap journey. If you find yourself wanting to see the sea, then a trip to Brighton Beach is a perfect way to spend the day. Brighton is lively, fun and colourful and it’s a bustling, quirky city full of lots of things to do and see. With it being so close to London, it makes an ideal day out during the summer months.
