Where is Turnham Green located?
Roughly 6 miles west of Charing Cross (as the crow flies), Turnham Green sits in leafy West London and is north of the river. The area colloquially referred to as Turnham Green includes not just the London Underground station of the same name, but also a good chunk of Chiswick High Road, Bedford Park and Emlyn Gardens. Chiswick is just south to Turnham Green but essentially the north of it is all incorporated within this district – there’s no set boundary.
What’s the typical Homestay accommodation in Turnham Green?
There’s a variety of properties throughout the neighbourhood of Turnham Green, so there’s a range of homestays available in the area! Both Victorian and Georgian terraced houses line residential streets, some converted into flats and apartments, and some still used as single-family homes. The Bedford Park area is a garden suburb and so homes there are a little larger than average and often with private gardens. You’ll also find terraced houses designed in the early 1900s through to the 1930s, and some mansion flats above commercial and retail spaces.
How safe is It?
This is a very safe area of London with low crime rates; and, therefore, a favourite of families and those with young children. There are some quieter residential estates around which you may not find other people out and about, but common sense should prevail in such circumstances. The rail stations and Chiswick High Road attract decent amounts of people at all hours.

Bedford Park is a particularly well-off area and so you’ll find houses, cars and outfits a little smarter in that neck of the woods.
Commercial rents here being low (albeit now on the rise) has resulted in several creative types moving to the neighbourhood and opening a range of independent retailers and restaurants.
What transport links does It offer?
Turnham Green is split across two Transport for London travel zones: 2 and 3. Turnham Green Underground station sits in 2 on the District and Piccadilly lines (avoid the former during rush hours), Chiswick Park in 3 on the District line and Gunnersbury in 3 offers Overground services. You’re a little far west in Turnham Green to use Santander Cycles, but keen cyclists can use private hire bikes to venture into the city. There’s also plenty of private transport options available in this area including road, Black Cabs, and minicab services.
